Mabs Cross set to tackle six furlongs at Ascot

Mabs Cross is defined to handle six furlongs for the first time in well over two years in the Qipco British Champions Sprint.
The admirable mare created her first two career starts within the longer sprint space from the spring of 2017, but has been retained to five furlongs ever since.
The five-year-old has won seven of her 19 career starts – a race in which she finished fifth.
Mabs Cross will line up together with trainer Michael Dods admitting since she ends up in trip, the prospect of testing requirements is a concern, for what might be her swansong on British Champions Day.
The strategy is still to operate, so far as I am aware, explained the Darlington-based trainer.
We have always wanted to test her over six furlongs, but that is definitely a stiff six in very soft ground. Its not ideal, but its the same for everyone and theyre doing everything they can just to acquire on the meeting.
She looks good, so I believe well let her take her chance and see how she has .
The heir apparent to Mabs Cross as the trainer star is Dakota Gold, that claimed his fifth victory from his final six starts when landing the Listed Rous Stakes at Ascot last time out.
The boy of Equiano is most Very Likely to round off his campaign in next months Wentworth Stakes at Doncaster.
Weve maintained him ticking over and the strategy is to visit Doncaster for the Listed race, Dods added.
He is in great form, so hell head there and this may be his last run of the year.
