Mabs Cross set to tackle six furlongs at Ascot

Mabs Cross is set to tackle six furlongs for the first time in well over a couple of years from the Qipco British Champions Sprint on Saturday.
The mare that was commendable left her first two career starts over the sprint space from the spring of 2017, but was kept to five furlongs since.
The five-year-old has won seven of her 19 career starts – a race where she finished on her appearance.
Mabs Cross will lineup with coach Michael Dods admitting that the prospect of testing requirements is an issue as she steps up in trip, for what could be her swansong on British Champions Day.
The strategy is still to run, as far as I am aware, said the Darlington-based coach.
Weve always wanted to test her over six furlongs, however, that is obviously a stiff six in very soft ground. Its not ideal, but it is the same for everyone and they are doing everything they can to find the assembly on.
She looks well, so I believe well let her take her chance and see how she gets .
The heir apparent to Mabs Cross since the coachs stable star is Dakota Gold, who maintained his fifth success when shooting the Listed Rous Stakes at Ascot out time.
Equianos boy is most likely to round off his effort in next month Stakes.
We have kept him ticking over and the strategy is to visit Doncaster for the Listed race, Dods additional.
Hes in good form, so hopefully hell head there and this may be his last run of the year.
