Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel claims he is”not concerned” about his form after he wrecked his German Grand Prix having a twist and collision.
Vettel hit when rejoining following a twist out of fourth place on lap six Point’s Racing.
“The rate is there so I am not worried. It is just a matter of placing things together,” he explained.
Vettel has been awarded three penalty points, putting him .
Formula 1 principles dictate if they accrue 12 penalty points that drivers receive an race ban.
Vettel has obtained all of his since previous year’s US Grand Prix, which had been about 19-21 October 2018.
This usually means another important driving error from the Singapore, Russian or Japanese Grands Prix could activate an automatic suspension by a race to the German.
Vettel said after the Italian Grand Prix that he was”unaware” of this penalty-point circumstance.
His own Charles Leclerc, his second in a row won the race, following his maiden victory in Belgium the former week.
Vettel hasn’t won a race since the 2018 Belgian Grand Prix, also has been near a victory this season only after, when he crossed the line in Canada in June but was demoted to second with a five-second punishment for rejoining the track dangerously after going off while under pressure in Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes.
Vettel stated in Italy on Sunday:”On my side, I’m not happy, not with the way it went with this spin.
“After that the race was pretty much missing from there but the team was still going and after it had been close with Kimi [Raikkonen] last year, this time at least Charles sealed the success in the finish for the team.”
There is concern and consternation at F1 in the regularity with which Vettel is currently creating driving errors – an average of every three races since a year’s French Grand Prix.
Monza saw his fourth Big error this season:
Vettel has been granted two penalty points to each of those events in Silverstone and Montreal, for colliding while attempting to pass him during last October’s Japanese Grand 37, along with his remaining two were.
Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto did not address the problem after Sunday’s race has said that the mistakes of Vettel should be observed in context, which in other races he has put in strong performances and/or worked as a team participant.
Binotto also said in Monza that there wasn’t any uncertainty about Vettel’s place at Ferrari for 2020:”I have said it and I’m confirming it – for second year Sebastian and Charles are all our motorists and there’s no doubt at all about that”
As Vettel joined the celebratory team photograph the Ferrari team members chanted his name.
Vettel was unhappy after qualifying at Monza because Leclerc had not abided by an agreement to give him a slipstream on their second runs in qualifying, as Vettel needed Leclerc on the initial.
Leclerc stated that it had been a result of the confusion at the end of qualifying, in which all the automobiles were bunched and went slowly about their’out’ lap to try to avoid being in the queue, because a slipstream is worth up to 0.5 seconds a lap in Monza.
Leclerc did move facing Vettel on the near the final corner, but made it to place a last lap. That meant Leclerc was on rod and Vettel fourth.
Radio communications in the time showed Vettel’s frustration with what had been happening. The drivers mentioned the problem with Binotto on Saturday day but Ferrari refused to reveal exactly what was stated.
After Leclerc won on Sunday, Binotto stated in Italian”perdonato” over the radio, which means”I forgive you”.
Binotto told the media:”It means whatever occurred in the last days which we discussed – and that’s something which will remain between us three – at least today he did a great job which has been a method of saying at least we had been happy for the job he did.”
Asked whether he thought the episode would sour the relationship between the motorists, Binotto explained:”It is something we discussed . There may be points of view the outside lap was a strange situation for everybody.
“But we are looking forward. I know I can depend on them. I believe that it won’t affect [it], it doesn’t indicate it won’t happen. The soul is anything you can do there’s something to learn.”
Vettel stated his mentality had not influenced entering the race and were not pertinent.
“I had been in great spirits so that I really don’t think that had any effect,” he explained.
