Forward Alexis Sanchez”doesn’t regret” joining Manchester United but he didn’t find enough playing time for a success.
The midsize, 30, joined Inter Milan after 19 months in Old Trafford on a loan deal at August.
He had been United’s greatest earner on about #400,000 per week but scored just five times in 45 games.
“I am very happy I went on Manchester United,” Sanchez told BBC Sport.
“I’ve always said that. It is the club that has won the most.
“When I went into Arsenal it was great – I had been happy there – but United were climbing at the moment, they had been buying players to acquire something.
“I wanted to join them and acquire everything. I don’t regret going there.”
Sanchez scored 80 goals in 166 games for Arsenal after signing from Barcelona in July 2014 for # 30m, and has been nominated to the Professional Footballers’ Association Players’ Players of the Year award in 2017.
His death United coincided with a downturn.
Although he impressed during Chile’s run to the Copa America semi-finals this summertime he scored just two goals last season.
Sanchez started only 31 of 77 possible games for United and completed 13 of these.
“I believe that I am happy when I perform for my national team,” he said.
“I was happy at Manchester United also, but I’ve always mentioned to my friends: I need to perform.
“If they would allow me to play I will do my best. Occasionally I would play 60 minutes afterward I wouldn’t play the next game – and that I didn’t understand why.”
With the club, Sanchez wasn’t involved in matches and did not feature at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side’s first three league matches, before his transfer to Inter Milan.
However, the Chilean said he believed”ready to perform” after the Copa America.
“I felt fine,” he said. “I believe I did well in the Copa America.
“Then, it [not playing with any pre-season games] depended on the trainer to let me playwith. You need to ask him this question, not me personally ”
